One true sentence, the truest one you know.

All you have to do is write one true sentence. Sounds simple enough. But is it? Let’s break it down. One sentence – easy. True sentence – now that’s a little harder. What is truth?

That question has baffled man since nearly the beginning of time. Philosophers have long debated the meaning of truth. One such meaning is truth is the state of being true. Now, come on, what the hell is that suppose to mean.

Let’s take a closer look at truth (the state of being true). Truth can be two-sided. A truth is how you perceive an outcome. The truth is within you (but if you’re a stubborn asshole of a human then it’s not coming out anytime soon, is it?) Truth is unique to an individual; truth can vary between different people.

Our truth is interpersonal. For instance, we tell each other things and when they work out we call them ‘truths’, but when they don’t, we are quick to call them lies, little white lies, or whoopsies. So is our definition of what is true flexible? What we believe to be the truth is what the majority agree with at a given time. But there is room to move, right? Depending on how we perceive the truth, it leaves room for us to carve our own truth.

A fundamental truth, one by which we live our lives, can be intensely private and personal. These have a specific criteria with rules and standards. We judge these by gathering facts and realities of the norm. Abortion is a topic some people tend to walk away from. The reasons why a woman chooses to have or not to have an abortion is her choice and she may be the only one who knows the truth in the matter. Without the element of truth and the right of self-determination, you can not freely clarify the virtue of her stance.

Truth: that which is excepted as being true.

SO write one true sentence…
